Albert Henry Fey passed away on November 16, 2018 in Great Falls. He was born on January 20, 1934 in Shelby, Montana to Anthony and Elizabeth Dusack Fey.
Albert was a rancher in the Sweet Grass Hills for over 60 years. He attended grade school in Sand Coulee, and high school in Shelby, Montana. He also graduated from Montana State University with a degree in agriculture. He was a member of the Montana National Guard.
On October 16, 1982, he married his wife of 36 years Gloria Albers Thompson. They spent many years side by side working on the ranch. Albert liked the simple things in life, he loved nature, land and cattle. He liked working on equipment, always getting things ready and keeping things maintained for the following year. He never over grazed and had some of the happiest cows around.
Albert loved observing the weather and reported daily temperature, moisture and wind for the Cooperative Weather Observer Station from the Gold Butte 7 North location from 1977 – 2017 (40 years). Taking over the job from his father Anthony that reported starting in 1943 (35 years). They had a total of 75 years of reporting and received a very rare recognition award for the same family reporting weather for all these years.
Albert is survived by his wife of 36 years Gloria, a sister Mary Ellen Watkins of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Step children Dwight (Julie) Thompson of Townsend, Mt. Mike Thompson of Columbia Falls, MT, Gwen (Neilson) Pearson of Calgary, Alberta Canada. There are also many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Anthony and his Mother Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 21, at 11:00 AM at Sunburst Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. A reception at the church will follow the service.
