Albert Frank Lunda, 89, passed away peacefully at Marias Care Center Friday, September 14. Albert was born April 20 in Dunkirk, Montana to Sigurd and Johanna Lunda.
Albert moved with his family to Minnesota for a few years then came back to the Shelby and Cut Bank area. He worked various jobs, mainly in construction, but always driving. He drove taxi in Shelby for a time and later bought Lunda Redimix and owned and operated both in Cut Bank and Shelby. He belonged to the Sons of Norway and the Shelby Senior Center where he was voted Senior of the Year in 2004. He touched the lives of many as a sponsor in AA as a member for almost 50 years. After he sold the Redimix, he drove for Zomer Trucking transferring vehicles across the country. He also drove the carnival for many summers. He loved to drive and would just get in the vehicle and drive with no destination in mind, including the trek to Alaska on three separate occasions.
Albert was ready to help anyone he met. He was a good friend and had a great sense of humor. One ongoing project he never tired of was his cabin at Pinnacle, which was never quite finished. Between various bus tours and road trips around the country, as well as a Panama cruise, Albert created many memories with loved ones over the past 20 years. Albert was always up for a card game and any time more than four people were around he had them playing cards. Soon enough, everyone else would be too.
Albert married Clara Ladd and had five beautiful children. He is survived by sons Allen (Shirley) of Anchorage AK, Duane (Jill) of Tunkhannock PA, and daughter Dona of Great Falls MT. He is also survived by long term companion, Rosalie Manley of Shelby. Brothers Tony, Harry, and Eric, sisters Myrtle Meyer, Dorothy Parpolia, and Hattie Appley. Step daughters Sophie Price, Renae Manley, and Tanya Aris, as well as 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, son Alvin, and daughter Danette.
