Alene F. Chewning

Alene Faye Chewning, 82, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, at the Pondera Medical Center in Conrad.

Alene was born on Nov. 9, 1935, in Tampico, Ill., to George and Julia Lancaster, the youngest of five children.  She was married in 1956 and later divorced in 1969.

Alene “LOVED” her family! She loved pictures and hearing stories on what everyone was doing. She enjoyed talking and visiting with her many friends, as well as her Birthday Club friends and Red Hatter girls. Alene always thought of others before herself and her kind heart will truly be missed.

Alene is survived by her two children, daughter Ruth (Eddy) Erickson of Conrad, and son Carl (Lola) Chewning of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Cassie (Ty) DeVries, Clint (Katie) Erickson, Curt Erickson, Cody Erickson, Heather Chewning, and CJ (Brittany) Chewning; and five great-grandchildren, Kindel and Jason DeVries, Braxton and Michael Chewning, and Korie Erickson. Alene is also survived by one sister, Mary Day, and numerous nieces and nephews. And, dear to her heart, Jennifer Witt, Kelly Witt, Kevin Ord, Karen Sutton, and Kimberly Hays.

Memorials can be made to the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church in her memory.

A Memorial Service was held Sat., July 28 at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church, followed by a reception.
