Allen Joseph Flesch, of Shelby, MT, passed away 7-23-2015, at Northern Rockies Medical Center, surrounded by family. He passed away from multiple health issues.
A funeral service will be held at Whitted Funeral Chapel, in Shelby, MT at 10:00 A.M. Friday July 31. A reception will be held at St. William’s Hall following the service.
Allen was born May 10, 1949 in Shelby, MT to Leo Henry & Rea Gerlough Flesch. He was the eldest of 8 sons, and had 6 sisters.
Allen attended St. William’s Catholic School and Shelby High, where he excelled scholastically and made a strong showing on the basketball courts for both schools. He attended MSU earning a BS in Agricultural Engineering. He entered the US Army directly from college, serving in Germany, mainly as a courier. Following his service to his country, he returned to Shelby, where he managed the family farm/ranch, along with his own properties (Desert Rose Corp.).
Allen loved his dog Blackie, the ranching part of business, harvest, woodworking, collecting art (paintings, bronzes, and antique china), hiking, fishing and picking wild huckleberries. He enjoyed the farm life for 40 years. His words: “I loved every day that I lived at the farm.”
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Leo & Rea Flesch, grand-parents Jean/Wilma Gerlough & Ed/Hazel Flesch. He is survived by 13 siblings Paula Randall (Cherry), Barbara (Steve) Grisillo, Joanne (Rick) Stanford, Charlotte Hout, Ed (Melody) Flesch, Gene(Ruth) Flesch, Vince(Janet)Flesch, Leo Wayne Flesch, Wilma Steiner, Lyle(Denise) Flesch, Dan(Stephanie) Flesch, Ken Flesch, Marie Flesch, many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.
