Alma D. Soper passed away on April 29,2021 at the Liberty Medical Center. Alma was born on January 3,1935 to Raymond and Ellen Zorn in Joplin. She was the second of seven children, Raymond, Gordon, Marilyn, Duane (Skip), Irwin (Ted) and Darlene. She attended school in Chester and graduated Valedictorian of her class. After school she worked at several local cafes in town where she met Eldon Soper they were married on October 2, 1954. Together they had three children, Lynette, Dale and Dean. After Eldon passed away in 1959 Alma was a stay-at-home mom until Dean entered school when she went to work at the school in the kitchen and then as the secretary. She then went to work at the Clerk and Recorders office, eventually becoming the Liberty County Clerk and Recorder.
Alma enjoyed traveling and bowling and attended National Bowling tournaments all over the country with a group of ladies from around the state for over 18 years. She also enjoyed painting and quilting.
Alma is survived by children, Lynette Anderson (Gary) of Arizona, Dale Soper of Joplin, and Dean Soper (Jodi) of Washington; siblings, Ted Zorn (Mary Ann) of Chester and Darlene Fraser (Duane) of Inverness; 5 grandchildren, Kari, Erica, Jason, Andrew, Colton; and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ellen; husband, Eldon; and siblings, Raymond, Gordon, Marilynn, and Duane.
A memorial service will be held on May 8, 2021 at 10 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chester.
Memorials can be made in Alma's name to Hi-Line Foundation or Liberty Senior Center.
