Ambrose Albert Hansmann, 86, passed away February 2, 2023, at Logan Health Care in Conrad.
He was born in Minnesota on July 16, 1936 and moved to Teton County Montana with his parents, Albert and Anna, shortly after birth. The oldest of 7 children, Ambrose worked on the family farm in Pendroy – haying, harvesting, and tinkering in the shop. He moved to Conrad and worked in the gravel pit. Theresa and Ambrose married on January 10, 1970 and they lived in the Manson community, northwest of Conrad.
He loved Allis Chambers WD-45 tractors, International haying equipment, farm auctions, Charolais cattle, his trusty dog-Pooch, hauling water and gravel, and working with his stepson, Gerald Miller. He also enjoyed Monday dinners and visiting with his friends at the Moose.
Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anna; his wife, Theresa; and his brother-in-law, Glen Bouma. He will be missed by his brothers, Richard (Emily) Hansmann of Pendroy and Roy (Debby) Hansmann of Helena; as well as his sisters, Ruby Bouma, Eddie (Tony) Verstraete, Mabel (Ivan) DeVries, all of Conrad, and Mary (Mitch) Guhl of Great Falls. He is also survived by Theresa’s children, Edna (Mike) Buechler, Arlene (Mark) Leys, and Gerald (Darlene) Miller, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday February 9th at 2pm at the Moose in Conrad. Ambrose’s family would love to have you come and share your stories and memories with them. A private service will be held later. Memorials can be made to the Conrad Moose Lodge or the donor’s choice.
