Anna M. (Schock) Buechler

January 3, 1921 — October 11, 2015

Anna M. Buechler, long time Galata resident, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the age of 94.

A celebration of Ann's life will be held Saturday, October 17th at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shelby, MT. She was born January 3, 1921 on the family homestead at Vida, MT to Gottlieb and Erna Abel Schock, one of eight children.

She married Raymond Buechler on November 18, 1942 in Long Beach, California where he was stationed with the Army. Ann worked in an airplane factory, building bomber doors while Ray was in training. After the war, they farmed in the Vida area before moving to Galata in 1953. She lived and worked on the family farm until 2012. At the age of 91, she chose to move to the Marias Heritage Center where she lived until her passing.

Ray and Ann had six children and were actively involved in the schools, 4-H activities & the Galata community.  She was a member of the Good Neighbor Club of Galata & the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Shelby its inception in 1955 where she served in many capacities.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Violet Kahm & Laura Whittenberg of Circle, MT; children Richard Buechler (Connie) of Shelby, Sharon Hanson (Dale) of Henderson, NV, Mike Buechler (Edna) of Conrad, MT and Norma Fritz (Robert) of Anaconda, MT; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; sons, Les and Cliff; and her 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or the Marias Heritage Center.
