Arlene (Albright) Meissner, 82, passed away, unexpectedly at home, Tuesday July 9, 2024.
Arlene was born to Leslie and Evelyn (Swanson) Albright on April 26, 1942. She grew up in Chester along with her older brother Jerry. Arlene received elementary and high school education in Chester, Montana, then married Blake Mc Dowell, and moved to Havre to complete high school. She attended college as well as pilot training.
With Blake, Arlene had two sons, Shawn and Blaine. She had various jobs supporting her family. The marriage ended in divorce.
On June 18th 1972 Arlene married Paul Meissner. She moved to the Meissner Ranch on the Marias River, her home for the remainder of her life. Arlene and Paul had one daughter, Joey. Arlene helped out on the ranch wherever she could from riding horses to running for parts. She enjoyed spending time weeding in her garden and sharing her produce with family and friends.
Throughout her life Arlene was involved in organizations such as Christian Women’s Club, a member of the Alliance Church, a hospice volunteer, and first responders. She also met with the Chester chicks from time to time for lunch and visits. She spent her quite time reading nonfiction book and watching movies. Fishing with her brother Jerry also occupied her time.
Arlene was a kind and compassionate lady who loved and cared for everyone. There was never a stranger in Arlene’s life. She met and greeted everyone as a friend. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She spent her time going to church, traveling, and spoiling her grandchildren any chance she got. They will miss the tradition of making lefse with her, as well as evening pool games.
Arlene is survived by sons, Shawn (Desma) Meissner and Blaine (Julie) Meissner; daughter, Joey (Ed) Cole; grandchildren, Shea and Daine Meissner, Rhiannon, Sadie, Hunter, and Osten Cole; her brother, Jerry Albright; sister-in-law, Margaret Meissner; and her church family.
