Arthur E. Westwell

Arthur Evans Westwell, Jr., 86, of Texas, passed away July 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Vigil services will be held Wednesday, July 24, at 7pm at Pondera Funeral Home in Conrad. Funeral mass will be Thursday, July 25, at 11am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Arthur was born in Belchertown, Mass on January 15, 1933 to Arthur and Hilda Westwell.  At the age of 16 he moved to Helena, MT.  Arthur soon dropped out of Boulder High School and entered Carroll College where he graduated with a degree at 20 years old.  He went on to Montana State University to earn a PhD in Chemistry.  After graduating from college, he taught two years in Hastings, Nebraska. Arthur enlisted in the US Army and worked as a counterintelligence specialist in Korea during the Korean War.  He went on to teach at Carroll College until retiring in 1998.

Arthur soon became reunited with his long-lost love, Laura Ellis, from 1963.  They were married in 1999. Laura died in 2013.

Survivors include stepchildren, Ian, Michael, and Rachel Schneller and grandchildren, Cole, Carson, and Enzo Schneller.
