Barbara Marie Han

Barbara Marie (Jacobsen) Han passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on June 1, 1947, Barb grew up on the family farm in Davenport, Washington and went to college at Washington State University where she studied elementary education. During her undergraduate studies, she met and married Allen Han, who was in veterinary school.

Barb and Al lived in several communities in Montana, eventually settling south of Inverness. Barb worked as a veterinary tech, pet groomer, and bookkeeper for the vet business. She taught elementary school (3rd grade) at Blue Sky in Rudyard for 17 years. She loved her students and was a playground icon in her ankle-length puffy coat that looked like a sleeping bag with arms.

Barb loved horses. Barb and her cherished horse, Pepper, showed competitively, English and Western, in college. She enjoyed O-Mok-See, barrel racing, training horses, working cows, and trail riding. She was an animal whisperer. She was a skilled seamstress and could sew anything from slippery satin doll clothes to leather western wear. She custom stitched four-wheeler seat covers and repaired the knees of jeans for every one of her children and grandchildren.

She loved riding her Spyder motorcycle, and she traveled over 100,000 miles. Sometimes she rode with Al on the annual Crop and Cow Tour or with her sisterhood of Tenacious Dames to destinations near or far and sometimes riding alone. She rode all over the US and Canada with various friends. She even figured out how to get groceries and haul home bags of cat food on her Spyder.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Al, her children Kristin (Andy) Burgoyne, Jake (Melissa) Han, and Cassidy (Jeff) Marn, and her cherished grandchildren Daniel, Jolee, Cameron, Colter, Jett, Presley, and Makenna. She is also survived by her siblings Jo (Bud) Whitney and Ken (Sara) Jacobsen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb is preceded in death by her parents Engman Weismann “Jake” Jacobsen and Joanne Ragnfrid (Dahle) Jacobsen and her infant daughter, Nicole Eileen (1975).
