Barbara Ann (Hanna) Lasher

June 6, 1938 — October 26, 2013

Barbara ‘Barb’ Lasher, 75, a secretary from Sunburst died October 25, 2013 at the Marias Care Center surrounded by family.  A vigil will be held at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Sunburst on Monday, November 4 at 1:00 pm followed by burial of ashes in the Sunburst Cemetery.  Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Sue McMinn of Steilacoom WA, Lorri (Mike) Housel of Sunburst, Bob (Christi) Lasher of Alamogordo NM and Holly Lasher of Great Falls; and brothers, Dave (Marion) Stratton and Calvin (Bonnie) Duerr.  Also surviving Barb were the lights of her life: her grandchildren, Sean (Shea), Zack, Alivia, Kylee, Journey, and Daelynn.  She was also blessed with her first great-grandchild, Shaine Gilligan befor she passed away.  Barb was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Sullens; aunts, Jeannie Duerr and Libby Gieger; ex-husband, Bob Lasher; and granddaughter, Mickie Gilligan.

Barb spent her early years in Great Falls, graduating from Central Catholic High School.  She married Bob Lasher and they soon moved to Sunburst to raise their family.Barb worked as a secretary most of her life and also helped Bob run the VFW Club for many years.  She met many lifelong friends in the North Country and felt blessed to live and raise her family there.  Barb loved to play bridge and was an avid reader.  Reading was a pastime she instilled in all of her children.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Many local kids called Barb’s house home and that is exactly how she liked it.

Memorials may be donated to the Sunburst Branch Library.
