Barbara Jane Woodward, 78, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Marias Care Center. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Monday October 31, at the Whitted Funeral Chapel, where the family will be receiving friends for one hour before service time. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Clyde Hadley Woodward of Shelby; sons, Thomas Alan Woodward of Paradise, CA and Timothy Aaron Woodward of Shelby; adopted daughter, Roberta Fawn Burtness of Shelby; grandchildren, Kathleen Woodward Combs, Rachel, Elizabeth and Jake Woodward, adopted grandson, Delbert Feldhut; great-grandchildren, Azora Combs and Raizelle Woodward.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Black Chambers; and brothers, William Black Jr., Harold Black and Paul Black.
Barbara was born November 5, 1932 at Marion, Ohio to William & Ethel (McGuire) Black where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1951. She married Clyde Hadley Woodward December 19, 1964 at Folsom, CA. Along with being a busy wife and mother, over the years she worked as an insurance claims clerk and in retail sales. The couple moved to Shelby in September of 2003.
Barbara was member of the Living Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, needle work and painting.
Her husband Clyde often told her that she was a true gift from God. She encouraged him in all of his endeavors throughout the 46 years of marriage that God blessed them with. Barbara will be truly missed by all who knew her.
