Bernice Larson

April 25, 1922 — November 28, 2017

Bernice went to be with her Lord and Savior November 28th, 2017 after a very full and meaningful life here with us on earth. She was born April 25th, 1922 in Souris, ND to Iver and Hannah Kornkven. She developed a strong sense of family early on, as she was one of 11 siblings. Bernice was an avid sports fan, always there to support all young athletes, whether she knew them or not. She was not just a spectator when it came to sports, but also a participator. She was a natural when it came to basketball, averaging 22.7 points per game. On December 1st, 1946 she married the love of her life, Oliver Larson. They went on to have seven children together, and moved to Cut Bank, MT to raise their family in 1961.  Bernice was an absolute asset to her community, working as a cook at the Anna Jeffries elementary school for 26 years. Those who were fortunate enough to have had her cooking, such as omelettes, cinnamon rolls and Texas sombreros, will never forget how great it was. Over her tenure at the school, she continually found the time to not only cook an amazing meal, but to reach out and touch the lives of each student that she came across. Bernice was not just a mother to her children, but to all. As part of a memorial for her husband, Bernice played an instrumental role in supporting the Babe Ruth baseball program in Cut Bank. She was always doing all she could to help others, acting as a confidant and counselor for any who needed it. Her faith guided her through all she came up against in life, and she was always ready to pass on her positive attitude and unbreakable faith that the Lord would help to guide those who looked to Him. Bernice will be remembered by so many for her gracious and friendly manner, contagious and full bodied laughter, homemade Lefse, unconditional love and positivity. As the matriarch of her family, Bernice helped to shape and mold her own children as well as her 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Through the values she instilled in her family and the memories all who knew her will carry in their hearts, Bernice has a spirit that will undoubtedly live on forever. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, and her daughter, Phyllis Withers. She is survived by her children, Shirley Ebert of Billings, Roger (Carol) Larson, Gloria (Jim) Taylor, Keith (Barb) Larson, Greg Larson, and Steve Larson all of Cut Bank as well as all of her grand children and great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Bernice will be held at the Cut Bank High School auditorium on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at 3:00pm with services to follow at the cemetery and a reception at the Moose Club.
