Our mother, Beverly “Bev” Jean (Durward) Tafelmeyer peacefully joined her Lord on September 17, 2021. She was born June 22, 1932, to Grace (White) and Harold Durward in Bowbells, North Dakota. She grew up living next door to her grandmother and one of her fondest memories was enjoying tea with her. As a child she enjoyed bailing hay with her father and canning with her mother. She went to school in Bowbells and graduated high school there. Soon after her graduation she met the love of her life, Gerald Tafelmeyer. They were married October 6, 1950. After moving to various towns in North Dakota they moved from North Dakota to Cut Bank where they raised their seven children. Upon moving to Montana, she found work at the Cut Bank Coast to Coast store as a bookkeeper and cashier until she retired.
She enjoyed family camping trips, eating at a nice restaurant with family and friends, and spending Sunday afternoons watching Downton Abbey. A highlight in her life was a trip to the Oregon coast with her three daughters. After her husband, Gerald, passed, she moved to Billings and took delight in rooming with her daughter, Marcia. When she wasn’t working and into her retirement, she spent time reading, baking goodies (especially at Christmas time, it’s unknown how many fruit cakes she made throughout the years), working on puzzles, crocheting, and quilting.
She is survived by her seven children, Linda Tafelmeyer, Allan (Mary) Tafelmeyer, Randy (Cathy) Tafelmeyer, Karl Tafelmeyer, Jon Tafelmeyer, Marcia Tafelmeyer, and Teresa (Steve) Kelly; her sister, Ann (Durward) McDaniel; her sisters-in-law, Collen (Larry) Durward, Eunice (Tafelmeyer) Jacobson, Rose (Tafelmeyer) Robinson; brother-in-law, David (Bobbie) Tafelmeyer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Tafelmeyer; sister, Louise Wolkenhauer; brother, Larry Durward; and daughters-in-law, Kelly Corey Tafelmeyer and Peggy Kohler Tafelmeyer.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the care staff at St. Vincent Hospital and Laurel Health and Rehab. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food bank.
