His mother, Nerva died when he was 11 and Charlie then married Ora Mae and she became a very dear step mother. He left home at the age of 13 and joined the United States Navy at the age of 16, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. In 1955 he married Ernestine Smith and they had 2 daughters, Robin and Starr. They divorced in 1965. In 1968 he gave his life to the Lord and Felt Gods calling to the ministry. He fell in love with and married Marlene Aguilar in 1969, adopting her daughter, Joyce, raising her as his own daughter. In 1971 he became the pastor of his first church, the 6th street Church of God in San Bernardino, California. This began his 35 years of ministering to the lost, assisting and reviving, struggling churches, spanning from California, Oklahoma, Arizona and Texas for the Church of God. During this time he also spent 2 years serving as the Church of God State Evangelist in Oklahoma, holding weekly revivals across the state. His daughters, Robin, Starr and Joyce sang and played the piano for these services. Carl touched many lives, counseled and helped young ministers, many of whom are still in the ministry today. He lead an uncountable number of people to the Lord throughout the years. Carl was also a missionary to Mexico and Belize and held many crusades in the Honduras. Carl began a chaplain in Mineral Wells and Bridgeport, Texas in the 90's, retiring in 2007. He had a heart for prisoners and in 2003 " The Ministry of Hope" was born, a transitional home for women. His ministry didnt end there, he promptly began Bible studies and praying with people daily. In December of 2013 his health began to decline when he suffered a major heart attack. He tried to go to Heaven that day but God blessed his family with three more years of his life. Even with his health set back,he still made a huge impact on every environment he lived in. Because of his persistence in wanting to attend Sunday morning service, the Chinook Nursing Home now has a bus service that takes its residents to and from churches of their choice. He began attending the Chester Assembly of God,( eventually joining), since arriving in August of 2009. Carl became a resident of Liberty County Nursing Home in Feb of 2016, where he enjoyed bible studies with several local ministers, townsmen and residents. Carl never hesitated in voicing his opinion of what the scriptures meant to him.
