Carl Wester

Carl Leo Wester, 71 years of age from Valier, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones.

Carl was born to John Wester and Dorothy (Pickering) Wester-Minder on May 26, 1951, in Livingston, Montana. Carl was the oldest of twin boys. He was proud to be minutes older than his twin brother, Cal Wester and made sure to remind his family every now and again. After graduating in May of 1970 from Harlowton High School, Harlowton, MT, Carl attended Flathead Community College in Kalispell, MT. In 1972 Carl began his career with the United States Postal Service. After leaving the postal service, Carl worked at the GTA Elevator in Valier, followed by the Valier Sanitation Dumpsite before retiring.

Carl’s passion was hunting, fishing and all-around outdoorsman. In his free time and after retirement he spent every moment he could in the great outdoors. The only thing that made the outdoors that much better was when he was able to share those moments with his two sons and grandkids, all of whom he loved dearly. He was always excited for the next adventure.

Carl is preceded in death by his father, John Wester; and stepfather, Denny Minder. Carl is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Pickering) Wester-Minder of Helena, MT; stepmother, Irma Wester of Missoula, MT; older brother, Joe (Lenna) Wester of Willowcreek, MT; twin brother, Cal (Rhonda) Wester of Valier, MT; eldest son, Cody Wester (granddaughters – Santana, Dani and Ragan) of Kalispell, MT; youngest son, Landon (Amber Widhalm) Wester (grandsons – Logan Parker (Great Falls, MT) and Bohyn Wester) of Valier MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Valier on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at Cal and Rhonda Wester’s, 707 Minnesota Ave, Valier, MT.
