Inverness

Charles William Adams, 86, of Inverness, passed Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Benefis in Great Falls.

Charlie was born south of Rudyard on his family farm June 17, 1934 to Oscar and Emma (Lambott) Adams. He finished his 8th grade schooling and worked on the farm with his brothers.  Early on he worked on various farms in the Chester area. Charlie worked in carpentry and worked putting up power poles for the power company and the Tiber Dam Project. He went on to work for Inverness Public Schools as janitor and bus driver. He did so for over 30 years and many generations of students and faculty.  Charlie very much enjoyed his work.

He married Virginia Richter on June 3, 1954.

Charlie’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching football. He was a devoted Griz fan.

He loved helping his brother, Zane, and grandsons, Josh and Jade, on the farm.  One of his favorite things was getting away with his wife, Virginia, and spending time with family at the cabin in Glacier Park.

Survivors include sister, Joyce Knauss of Bremerton, WA; brother, Zane (Cathy) Adams of Great Falls; sons, Michael Adams of Cascade and Todd Adams of Helena; daughter, Shelly (Paul) King of Joplin; grandchildren, Josh (Val) Van Wechel of Rudyard, Jade Van Wechel of Inverness, Michelle Adams of Great Falls, Christie Adams Butler of San Coulee, MT, Charlie Adams, Jr. and Jacob Adams both of Bossie City, LA; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by wife, Virginia; son, Charlie Jr.; and infant son, Kip.

Graveside services for Charles and Mike Adams will be held May 15 at 2pm at Inverness Cemetery. A reception at the Inverness Supper Club will follow the service.
