Clara E. Brown, 82, a retired CNA from Shelby, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, gently passed away September 8, 2011 at Marias Medical Center of natural causes. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, September 12, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Shelby. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery with a reception following back at the church. Relatives and friends are welcome at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby on Sunday from 3:00-8:00 pm for viewing and visitation. Clara was born November 18, 1928 in Jordan, MT, to Max & Mary (Mull) Lehner. She graduated from Garfield County High School. After graduation at the age of 18 she married the love of her life Glen Brown, on October 11, 1947.
They moved to Billings until 1970 and then moved to Shelby where she spent her life devoted to her family, friends, church and community.
Clara was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She was active until the day of her passing in a quilting, Circle and WELCA group. She was also dedicated to the local VFW and Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughter Nyla (Jerry) Larson of Shelby; son Scott (Janice) Brown of Cut Bank; sister Maxine Sickles of Jordan. Also surviving her are grandchildren Kari (Lance) Hoover of Shelby; Jenny Larson of Shelby; Christen (Corey) Mertes of Missoula; Julie (Wes) Barnes of Great Falls; Scott Brown of Cut Bank; and Ryan (Rhonda) Brown of Orlando Florida; as well as her great-grandchildren Brynn, Avery, Emersyn & Kannon. Clara was preceded in death by her parents Max & Mary; her husband Glen; her sons Dale and Mark; her sister Evelyn; and her brothers Ervin & Bobby Lehner of Jordan.
Clara had an unwavering faith in our Lord and dedication to her church. She will also be especially remembered for her selfless love and devotion to everyone around her and her home baked goodies. She lived for her children and grandchildren and has filled their lives with such wonderful memories.
