David 'Baler' V Holland

David ‘Baler’ Vaughn Holland, 63, former farmer/part-time bartender/handyman from Sunburst died October 11, 2013 at his home due to a long battle with heart complications. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Sunburst Methodist Church with visitation at Whitted Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Interment will be in the Sunburst Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Sunburst Methodist Church. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his long time love, Gail McAlpine of Sunburst; daughters Valerie (Don) McAlpine of Sunburst and Stephenie Holland (Dale Raulston) of Missoula; sons Bradley (Rachael) Holland of Havre and Brenton (fiancée Stephanie Martino) Holland of Belgrade; extended family Danny (Emeri) Degenstein of Washington D.C. and Courtney Degenstein of Shelby; sisters Roxanne (Carl) Christofferson of Great Falls; Dee (Leonard) Matteson of Hardy and Laura (Ron) Lyall of Sarasota, Florida; 8 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was born August 19, 1950, the only son of Vaughn and Dorothy (Berget) Holland in Great Falls, Montana. He attended Sunburst Elementary through the 8 th grade finishing his education at North Toole County High School. He married Roilene (Heimbigner) Fain in April 1969, having two children, Valerie & Bradley; and later divorcing in 1976. He then married Diane Crane in December 1977 and of this marriage two children, Stephenie and Brenton, were born; they later divorced in 1978. He met girlfriend Gail McAlpine in 2006 and they were together until his death.

David was an active member of the Montana Hunter’s Safety Education Program, instructing for around 30 years, and an active member of the Northern Dart League. He had many hobbies including: drag racing, classic/muscle cars, riding his Harley motorcycle, hunting, fishing, playing cards, darts, spending time with family and friends, enjoying watching his grandchildren in sports and other activities, and the Annual Sweet Grass Biker Rodeo, among many other activities.
