Dean Jackson, 92, passed away October 29, 2023, in Choteau. Dean was born October 7, 1931, in Miles City, to Norval Dean & Ethel (Stoebe) Jackson.
When Dean was 4 years old, they moved to a ranch in Clyde Park, where his dad raised and sold Registered Hereford cattle. In 1954 he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Washington DC at the White House, where he was in President Eisenhower’s carpool.
On January 19, 1957 he married Genevieve “Jenny” Baker in Washington DC.
Two weeks after they were married, they moved to Clyde Park where Dean ranched for a short time. He also logged briefly, and they moved around to various places.
In 1968 they settled in Shelby where Dean worked 30 years for Dick Irvin, Inc. He did it all there from trucking to working in the shop and running the wrecker, picker and crane. Mike Irvin says Dean was quite the welder and still has the gate he made for him in his driveway. After Dick Irvin he wasn’t quite ready to retire yet, so he then went to work for Hi-Line Redi-Mix. Dean finally retired at the age of 84.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Norval & Ethel Jackson; his sister, Edith Warmbrod; and niece, Virginia Teagle.
Dean is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jenny; their children, Joy (Mark) Hitchcock of Choteau, Jeff (Rhonda) Jackson of Shelby, Jim (Alex) Jackson of Idaho, Steve (Tammie) Jackson of Shelby, and Jennifer (Bob) Kuster of Oilmont; 12 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; nieces, Jean Dixon and Sharon Stein; and nephew, John Warmbrod.
