Dean “Deano” William Peterson, 59, of Cut Bank, passed away at home on Friday, September 22, 2017.
At his request, cremation has taken place and Father Tim Moriarty and Father Michael Drury will be officiating graveside services along with military honors on Thursday, September 28, at 2pm at Crown Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.
Dean was born November 23, 1957 in Cut Bank to Don Peterson and Mary Lois Judisch Munoz. He spent his childhood on the family farm and ranch west of town where he helped with all the farm and ranch duties. This is where he developed his countless talents and boundless work ethic. All throughout his younger years he was actively involved in riding broncs and bulls in rodeos. Dean also showed 4H steers in his youth. He graduated from Cut Bank High School. On December 14, 1976 he married Becky Lynn Boyce. He then enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in California on the USS-Mars from 1976-1979. After his service in the navy, they moved back to Cut Bank and lived on the family ranch until he pursued his passion for welding at the Vo-Tech in Helena. They then purchased their own place north of Cut Bank.
Together they raised 3 children, Chad, Andrea, and Bret. He loved following his kids in sports all throughout their high school years, and passed down his love of animals and 4H to his kids and grandkids. He was an active member of the Marias Fair Livestock Committee for many years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and volunteer his time to better the 4H program. Dean was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed sharing his love of hunting with his family and friends. Ice fishing was a lifelong passion of Dean’s. He spent countless hours in his shop creating and inventing anything you could imagine. Dean could build just about anything he put his mind to. When he wasn’t working Dean devoted his free time to making his home to what it is now, a beautiful peaceful place to raise a family. It was at this home where he enjoyed many family and friend gatherings. He was always with the grandkids around the fire pit dodging roasted marshmallows.
Dean started his own business, Peterson Welding, and contracted out to numerous oil companies, farmers, and ranchers. He was known for being a perfectionist when it came to anything he did. His polka dotted hats will always be remembered.
Dean is survived by his wife, Becky of 40 years; half-brother, Donnie Peterson; and children, Chad (Sarah) Peterson, Andrea Bengtson, and Bret (Jessi) Peterson all of Cut Bank; his 6 grandchildren, Bree, Alli, Addisyn,Elyse,Brody, And Kaye.
