Dennis W. Leck, 74, died Monday (Feb. 20) at Shelby. He was born at Conrad, Montana to Hattie and Charles Leck, the fourth of four boys. During the early years of his life, he lived in Galata where he attended elementary school. During his fourth grade year, the family moved into Shelby where he attended school, graduating from Shelby High School.
Following graduation, he moved to Seattle to work for Boeing. He served in the United States Army and, following his honorable discharge, returned to Seattle where he worked in construction. Dennis loved to golf, playing on many different courses around the country. In 1984 he returned to Shelby to care for his ailing mother. He enjoyed golfing at the Marias Valley Golf course and having coffee at the town pump with the guys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Charles and nephew David. Surviving him are his brother Jim; cousin Norman Ostrom, nephews Steve and Tim; nieces Tina, Rachel, and Mariann and many great nephews and nieces.
Military graveside services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Shelby. Friends may call from 9:00 am. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Whitted Funeral Chapel.
