Donald Eugene Erdmann, 79, of Cut Bank, went to be with his Lord on October 5, 2011 at the Benefis Hospital in Great Falls due to natural causes. Memorial services will be held on October 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Prairie Peace Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery followed by a reception at the church. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Donald was born June 10, 1932 at the family farm near Hart, MN, the youngest of 11 children born to Herman Otto and Minnie (Block) Erdmann. He joined the US Army and served 13 months in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He saw action and was a Combat Engineer in the 3rd Infantry Division and was an Acting Platoon Sergeant. After his discharge he moved to Cut Bank to work with his brother on a farm. Donald and Mary Lou Kjose were married in December of 1955. They raised a son, Donald Richard, and a daughter, Lori Renee.
He worked as an electrical/electronic repairman at oil refineries and pulp mills. He was retired from the pulp/paper mill near Missoula. Donald enjoyed fishing, his cats, trap shooting and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Mary Lou Erdmann of Cut Bank; son, Donald Richard (Barbara) Erdmann of Helena; daughter, Lori Kaphammer of Conrad; grandchildren, Andrea (Luke) Thiselle of Helena, Blaine Kaphammer of Thornton, CO, and Donald Alexander Erdmann of Helena; sister, Lida Anderson of Vancouver, WA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The old lion is not here anymore, but I believe I can still hear his roar in the wind.
