Donald Hillius, 80, of Cut Bank, passed away December 18, 2016, surrounded by family.
Don was born in Conrad on November 18, 1936 to the late Irvin “Dutch” and Hazel Hillius. He graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1956. Don met the love of his life, Theresa “Terri” Hillius, when she came to Cut Bank to teach school. They were married December 28, 1965. They spent nearly 51 wonderful years together.
Don was a dedicated and hardworking Oilfield pumper for 50 years finally retiring in 2014. He had always wished to own a farm, but became a hobby farmer to fulfill that dream. He helped many local farmers during harvest. His grandchildren were grateful that he was always willing to help fix fence, seed the north pasture, or haul a load of cattle for them. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Don was a wealth of knowledge when it came to almost anything oilfield or mechanical related. He had a large collection of toy tractors, trucks, and pickups. He loved taking his great grandson into the toy room.
Don is survived by his wife, Terri Hillius of Cut Bank; sister, Donna Garcia (Ralph) of Scotts Bluff, NE; brother, Denny Hillius (Hilda) of Borger, TX; four children, Pam Unruh (Russ) of Chinook, Donna Lee Pike (Scott) of Zurich, Alfred Hillius (Brandi) and Amy Holmes (Joel) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandchildren, David, Chaz (Katie), Lyle (Lacy), Shaelyn (Brad), Brandi, Shila (Steve), Jessika (Neal), Jennifer, Sabrina, Isabell, Jake, and Sadie; great grandchildren, Jimmy, Skylie, Sierra, Bentlie, Kaidence, Taylor, Landon, Jorgia, and David.
His is preceded in death by great granddaughter, Jenna.
Memorial mass will be held Wednesday, December 21, at 10:30 am at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.
