Dorine Bailey

Dorine Bailey, 89, passed away June 25, 2016 in Shelby.

Dorine was born January 18, 1927 in Havre to Carl and Bernice (Wolery) Waid.  She grew up in the Havre community and attended country school south of Havre until 8 th grade.  Dorine graduated from Havre High School in 1945.  She went on to Tacoma, WA where she attended Beauty School.  Dorine came back to Havre in the late 1940’s and opened “Orchid Beauty Salon”. In her salon she met her husband to be, Quannah Bailey.  They married in Havre on September 21, 1952.  Dorine later worked for 5 years as secretary of Our Savior Lutheran Church and 2 years as bookkeeper at Chester Implement.  Dorine was a member of WELCA and Chester/Rudyard Women’s Bowling League where her average was 138.

Dorine was well known for her potato salads that were made for celebrations and weddings. She would make 1 to 25 gallons at a time!  Dorine also enjoyed baking cinnamon rolls for people, too.  She was a good homemaker and cook.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading historicals, camping, walking, dancing, and collected old coins.  Dorine loved her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed watching “Little House on the Prairie” and “Bonanza” on TV.

Survivors include husband, Quannah Bailey; son, Keith (Crystal) Bailey of VanCouver, WA; daughter, Karen (Kurt) Moseman, Roy, MT; grandchildren, Tammy & J.T. and Karie & Kyle; and sister, Carol Young of Malta. She is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Tauanna Lea Bailey; brother, Robert Waid and sisters, Frances Waid and Melinda Waid.

Memorial services will be held for Dorine and Tuanna Lea on July 15 at 11:00am at  Our Savior Lutheran Church.
