Dorothy 'Dot' Ione (Hunt) Seifert

December 22, 1932 — July 8, 2013

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Ione Seifert, 80, of Shelby, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Marias Care Center due to cancer.  Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 19, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with burial of ashes to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.  Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

She was born December 22, 1932 in Joplin to Ray & Ione (Wicks) Hunt. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1950. On September 4, 1952 she married Tom Seifert and together they farmed on the family farm west of town for many years. They had 48 years of wonderful married life before Tom passed away in 2000.

Dot traveled every year to Mesquite, NV, where she enjoyed BINGO and her dear friends who all lovingly called her Dottie Jo.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church, blood bank and the Night Owl Pinochle Club.  Dorothy enjoyed music, reading, camping, fishing, bingo and dancing.  Dot, her husband Tom, and family performed western music around the area as the ‘Western Mates’.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Cheri (Pete) Jansen, Darla (Bob) Winney, both of Shelby and Donna (Rich) Shuff of Mead, CO; sons, Butch (Sharon) Seifert of Laughlin, NV and Dan Seifert of Shelby; sister, Hazel ‘Boots’ Fransen of Shelby; brother, Jack (Marilynn) Hunt; step-mother, Marilyn Sheldon; step-sisters, Theresa Sheldon and Mary Clark; as well as 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom; infant stillborn son; brothers, Bob & Vern Hunt; and step-brother, Kenny Nielson.
