Edith Ruth (Johnson) Dunham, passed away on December 29, 2013 in Centralia, Washington. She had turn 100 years of age in April of 2013.
A memorial service will be 1:00 pm on Friday, July 11 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Shelby.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Dunham, of 61 years in 1996. She was born in Shelby and lived her entire life in Toole County. She attended Oilmont and Shelby schools and received a teaching certificate from Dillon Normal School in Dillon, Montana. She taught school in a one room country school north of Shelby until she married Milford and spent one year working on the Dunham farm before moving to the Ferdig-Oilmont area to work in the Oilfield until they moved their family to Shelby in 1951. Edith worked at JC Penny’s for a short time and then worked for Toole County in the Clerk and Recorder’s office then retiring from the Deputy Clerk of Courts office.
She was active in high school athletics, golf, bridge and bowling and enjoyed their cabin on Whitefish Lake. She is survived by three sons, Alan (Jackie) of Centralia, Darrol (Lise) of Hamar, Norway, and Bob (friend Wendy) of Phoenix, Arizona. She has five grandsons and 1 granddaughter, and seven great grandchildren.
