Edmund John Osler, 85, of Shelby passed away in the early morning of May 15 th at Marias Medical Center in Shelby.
A funeral service will be 6:00 pm Friday, May 20 th at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. He will be privately interred at the Chester cemetery. A casual reception for family and friends will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 21 st at the Chester Community United Methodist Church.
John was born to Edmund and Josephine (Enerson) Osler in Chester, MT on September 29, 1930. He was one of four children.
John started a Backhoe business in Shelby, MT in the late 70’s. He retired in 2001.
John was a very kind and gentle person. He had a very strong faith in the Lord. He was a wonderful carpenter, gardener, and made excellent hotcakes. He loved to fish, camp, play cards, play the piano and read the bible, which he did daily.
John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Syble (Sigurdson) Osler; daughters, Coni Thorn of Shelby, Kathey (Clint) Pike, of Great Falls, Peggy (Ken) Robertson of Butte, Penny (Randy) Pike of Great Falls, and Pam (Rodney) Burgess of Belpre, OH; sons, Shawn Osler (Amy) of Washington, and Tim Osler of Belgrade, MT; sister, Pearl Cicon of Chester; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Josephine; grandchild, Nicholas Pike; sisters, Mary Chambers and Gladys Carpenter, and son-in-law Patrick Thorn.
