Edwin LeRoy (Ed) Krueger, 75, a longtime Shelby barber, died Sunday, December 18, at Marias Care Center in Shelby. Graveside inurnment will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 26 in the Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on January 16 at 11:00 am at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Shelby, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Ed was born at Stanton, Nebraska on January 16, 1936 to Theodore and Alma Krueger. He attended a country school at Stanton, moving in 1946 to Marion, South Dakota and, in 1948, to Sioux Falls where he attended a school for the deaf.
In 1954, Ed moved to North Gildford, Montana to work on a farm until moving to Spokane, Washington in 1957 where he attended Moles Barber College. He worked as a barber in Great Falls until coming to Shelby in 1958 where he started his own barber shop which he operated for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Shelby and had also been a member and treasurer of the Shelby Jaycees. He enjoyed helping older people and had given his time to cutting hair at the nursing home. He enjoyed doing photography, bowling and also some traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors include some cousins and his good friends in Shelby, especially Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Jeppesen of Shelby.
