Elaine Clarice (Bowman) Schram, 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Benefis Peace Hospice in Great Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
Her memorial service will be held at Pondera Valley Lutheran Church in Conrad, on Saturday, December 12th, at 1:00 PM. Social distancing protocol will be enforced.
Elaine was born on October 22, 1933 to Fay and Ellen (Simonson) Bowman in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the youngest of seven children. She attended a rural school through 8th grade and later graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1952.
On September 4, 1954, Elaine married Harlan Marvin Schram, also of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. The couple then moved to Conrad, Montana where they worked and started a family of four children. They finally settled on the Iverson farm near Ledger. In 1973 they moved back to Conrad where Elaine took over the Ledger star mail route from Harlan, for a combined total service of 31 years. Along with delivering mail, Elaine also worked with her husband on their Conrad East-side farm, purchased in 1986.
Elaine was an active member of the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, and the Conrad VFW Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (“GG”). Elaine’s passions were her garden and flower beds, cooking and canning for the family, camping and fishing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Harlan in 2009; daughter, Robin in 1972; son, Terry in 1993; sisters, Darlene Schram and Lorraine Doering; and brothers, Sidney, Wesley, Wayne, and Pete.
Survivors include daughter, Roxanne (Andre’) Gonzalez; son, Stacy (Elaine K.) Schram; grandchildren, Shellsea Gonzalez and daughter, Savera; Justin (Barbie) Schram and daughters, Avery and Kaylea; Kristin (Jonathan) Green and children, Liam, Emma, and Grace; and Michelle (Jody) Fowler and daughter, Kaia; sister-in-law, Verla Bowman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her longtime dog companion, Buddy.
Memorials can be made to the Conrad VFW Auxiliary or Pondera Valley Lutheran Church.
