Eldred Stratton
August 8, 1942 — December 25, 2015
Eldred Stratton, age 73, a long time Shelby/Galata area farmer, passed away on December 25 at the Heritage Center in Shelby.
Viewing will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 30, and the funeral service will be 11:00 on Thursday, December 31, both at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. Eldred was born August 8, 1942 in Shelby to Lloyd and Verla (Kinyon) Stratton. He helped his mother with full operations of the farm at the age of 15, after his father passed away. He married Margaret “Susie” Nevin on August 4, 1962, and the couple worked the family farm until they moved to Shelby.
Eldred enjoyed playing Solitaire, reading, hunting, fishing, camping, sitting by the campfire, watching ghost stories and westerns, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Susie” Stratton; son Allen (Lori) Stratton; daughter Leah Pehan; grandchildren Alex and Jackie Stratton, all of Shelby; special members of the family Kevin, Lanell, Trevor and Amanda Dodson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Marna Stratton.
