Eleanor Jean (Hawkins) Greco, 81, of Cut Bank passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Northern Rockies Medical Center after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on June 8, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Shelby with a reception to follow. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Angelo Greco; son, Fred (Jamie) Greco and grandson, Brandon Greco all of Cut Bank; brother, Harvey (Kenda) Hawkins of Kalispell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents.
Eleanor was born in Kalispell on March 17, 1932 to Fred and Helen (Evans) Hawkins. She graduated from Flathead High School in 1951 and married the love of her life, Angelo Greco, on October 10, 1951. Together, Angelo and Eleanor ran Greco’s Bakery & Restaurant in Browning and Cut Bank for 40 years. Eleanor’s specialties were baking pies and helping with the potato salad. Anyone who knew Eleanor knows how much she loved life; her contagious laughter and sense of humor touched all who met her. Eleanor had many varied interests and hobbies; she loved to travel, listen to music (and dance), crochet, read, and spend time visiting with friends and family. Eleanor was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971 and was a faithful member of the congregations in Cut Bank and Shelby.
