Evelyn M. Wolfe Kinyon, 91, a retired farm wife from Shelby, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Marias Care Center in Shelby. Private family funeral services will be held at the Whitted Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Mountain View cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Harry (Vickie) Wolfe and Gary (Shirley) Wolfe of Shelby; step-daughter, Shirley Leck of Galata; and numerous grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way.
Evelyn was born May 18, 1921 at Fort Benton to A.C. & Ethel (Speer) Benjamin. She was raised on the family farm near Shelby where she graduated from high school 1939. She then attended MSU Bozeman where she was a member Kappa Delta Sorority. Evelyn married Marvin Wolfe in 1945; the couple farmed for a short time in the Ledger area before moving their farm north of Shelby. Marvin died in 1980.
In 1981 she married Dale Kinyon and they moved to Stryker, MT; he died in 1986.
She was the Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1967 and also held a state office with the Star. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed all of nature - especially birds.
