Evelyn Mae Munson, 75, died of natural causes at the Northern Rockies Medical Center in Cut Bank on Saturday, December 24, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family who bid her farewell into the everlasting arms of Jesus.
Evelyn was born December 17, 1936 in Helena, adopted at birth by Edward and Wanetta Hillius of Cut Bank.
Evelyn was proud to be a Montana girl and lived most of her life in Cut Bank. In high school she was known for her beautiful soprano voice, which led her to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1955. There she studied business and sang under Paul J. Christiansen. While on summer break she met Clarence “Clancy” Munson in East Glacier and forfeited her last year of college for marriage. She and Clancy owned Porters Motel in East Glacier and later moved to Cut Bank where she worked for Frisbee and Moore law firm. They had a daughter Lisa born in 1960. Evelyn and her family loved spending time at their cabin on Whitefish Lake.
Over the years, Evelyn was involved in various clubs and organizations but she was devoted to the class of ’55 and enjoyed organizing all the high school reunions and keeping her old friends connected to their home town.
The people who knew Evelyn always spoke of her perseverance and courage related to her constant battle with arthritis. While her body was tormented with the disease, her spirit and resolve soared beyond the suffering. Her glass was always beyond half full and rarely a complaint was heard. Evelyn’s focus was always on others and their well being. What a powerful legacy and testimony of faith for those left behind!
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Munson Mulcrone (Gary) of Puyallup, Washington, grandsons Hayden and Jonah Mulcrone. Evelyn will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and granddaughter, Grace Helen Mulcrone.
