Fay Irene Galt Taylor was born on January 27, 1917 in Stanford the eldest of six children born to Errol and Florence (Johnson) Galt.  The family lived in Geyser until Fay’s senior year when they moved to Great Falls., and Fay was graduated from Great Falls High School in 1935.  She then attended business college before working for the Montana Power Company and later the Texas Oil Company in Shelby.  It was there that she met Ben Taylor, and they were married on December 28, 1938 making their home and raising their family in Shelby together for sixty-two years until Ben’s death in 2000.

Surviving Fay are her children: Patti Ellen Kays of Auburn, WA, Jane Young of Henderson, NV, Bill (Stacey) of Seattle, WA, and Greg (Peggy) of Shelby; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Galt of Martinsdale; brother-in-law, Rib Gustafson of Conrad; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ben; her daughter, Mary Ann Arnot; her parents; her brothers, Capt William W Galt and Jack Galt; her sisters, Sister Mary Eleanor Galt, OSM, Gwen Rispaud, and Pat Gustafson; and sons-in-law, Robert C Arnot and Steve Young.

Fay was a working partner in the family business, Ben Taylor, Inc for over fifty years.  She was a member of St William Parish since 1938, serving in the Altar Society and as a parent at St William School.  Her hobbies over the years included gardening, playing bridge, reading, and working crossword puzzles.  As a loving grandmother, she delighted in her grandchildren and they in her; many of Grandma Fay’s recipes will be their favorites always.  A true caregiver, she will be dearly missed.
