Frank E. Heydon, 63, passed away unexpectedly April 22, 2021 He was born August 17, 1957 in Chester to Ferroll and Dorothy Heydon. He grew up helping on the family farm and ranch on Miners Coulee Road at the base of the Sweetgrass Hills. His birthdays were often celebrated in the harvest fields.
He was baptized and confirmed at the country church Trinity Lutheran. He attended grade school in Oilmont and high school at North Toole County High School, Sunburst, graduating in 1975. He played football and basketball in high school and enjoyed his automotive classes. He went on to study Automotive at Northern Montana College in Havre.
His first job was driving truck for Halliburton in Wyoming. Over the years he worked as a mechanic for car dealerships and a long-haul truck driver. In 2006 the Sweetgrass Hills were calling, so he moved back home to Montana and was working for a pipeline construction company. He never tired of his view of Gold Butte.
Frank loved spending time with his son, Trey, especially gopher hunting and elk hunting camp. He played guitar and mandolin in his spare time and was an avid reader. He was a FORD man and had many fixer-up projects in his shop.
Frank made friends wherever he went and loved telling a good story. His hearty laugh will be remembered along with his willingness to lend a helping hand to a neighbor, friend, or stranger.
Frank is survived by his son, Trey Heydon and daughter-in-law Courtney of Oilmont; his mother, Dorothy Heydon of Tucson, AZ; sister, Merry (Murray) Matthews of Lewistown; brother, Gary (Michele) Heydon of Topeka, KS; along with several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Ferroll E. Heydon.
A memorial service will be held June 12 at Lutheran Church of Sunburst at 2:00 p.m. Burial at Trinity Cemetery and reception to follow at Four Corners Bar and Cafe.
