Fredrick Jay Gallup, 59, an oil field worker from Sweet Grass, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm, Tuesday, December 31, at the Sunburst Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Sweet Grass Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Fred was born September 15, 1954 at Shelby to Fredrick & Ruth (Gorman) Gallup. He attended elementary school at Sweet Grass and Sunburst High School. He served with the US Army from 1971 to 1973 being stationed in Germany. On March 12, 1983 he married Debbie Thielen at Sunburst.
He worked as a driller in the North Toole County oil and gas fields for many years. He later served as a consultant for on several different drilling sites in Wyoming, until ill health prevented him from traveling. He also helped area farmers during seeding and harvest times.
He enjoyed fishing, tending to his cows, and working in his shop.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie, and son, Justin Gallup both of Sweet Grass; daughter, Tony Robinson of Billings; sister, Carm Taule of Sunburst; and a brother, Hanford Gallup of Lewistown. He is preceded in death by his parents.
