George C. Erickson, 88, of Conrad, passed away August 6, 2018 of natural causes.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 15, at 1pm at Pondera Valley Lutheran Church. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow the service. Graveside service will be at later date.
George was born in Conrad on October 12, 1929 to Hans & Emma Erickson. George graduated from Conrad High School and went on to enlist into the Navy in which he served for 4 years.
George was married to Madelyn Hovde on September 15, 1953; they have been married for 65 years.
George worked as a service attendant at Texico for M. Mcintyre. He then went to work for RG Barth at The Toggery as a clerk and salesman. George went on to work for the Pondera County Road Department until retiring. George enjoyed and built many models of aircraft and ships, cars & trucks. He was actively involved in the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church as a choir member and Sunday school teacher. George was also involved in the VFW, the Conrad Historical & Automotive Museum and the Conrad Depot Society.
Survivors include his wife Madelyn; daughter, Linda (Erickson) Welch; granddaughter, Cynthia (Welch) Fleming (husband, Christopher; great granddaughter, Cameron Fleming; brothers, Art & Francis; sisters Irean of Spokane, WA & Leona of Watsonville, CA; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Emma Erickson; oldest sister, Clara; and brothers, Burt and Harry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pondera Valley Lutheran Church, Conrad Depot Society, or the Conrad Transportation & Historical Museum, all of Conrad.
