George A Vodall

December 2, 1929 — June 7, 2013

George Adolv Vodall, 83, a long time Toole County and life time Montana resident died June 7, 2013, at home after a long heroic battle with cancer.  Interment will be in the Harlowton Cemetery with a graveside service for family and friends on June 12 at 2 pm.  A public Celebration of Life will be held in Kevin later this summer.  Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials may be directed to Manos Unidas, 21023 33rd DR SE, Bothell, WA  98021. It's a local Seattle gal doing great work with handicapped children.

George is survived by his wife Elsie; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Marcela of Redmond, WA; and two sisters Evelyn Leary of Harlowton and Gunda Zwerneman of Livingston.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Ida (Dotson) Vodall, and brother Larry.

George was a Christmas gift and the second child of Ole and Ida from Roy, Montana.  The family moved from there to Two Dot where George attended grade school and then graduated from High School in Harlowton.   Following school George worked on local farms, ranches, and construction with one year in the Pierce Packing house in Billings and a brief shift with Boeing in Renton, WA.

One evening at the Grand Hotel in Big Timber he first spied a sweet young school teacher from North Dakota eating sour cream raisin pie and he was smitten.  After wrecking at least two vehicles returning from late night courting, she agreed to marry him if nothing else to save his life.  They were married June 12, 1953 at Bismarck, ND.  Sixty years later he was still smitten...   Those 60 years took George from the famous Two Dot bar, to the Oien Oil Company in Oilmont, Rimrock Service in Kevin, then back to the Kevin-Oilmont oil field working for Ed VanderPas Oil.  George spent his golden years working on the Alme Farm picking rock and plowing weeds under the Sweetgrass hills.

If anybody needed a tire fixed or errand ran - George was ready to go.  From a neighbor’s Facebook posting - "Heaven gained an angel today."
