George Delbert Wiegand, 58, a farmer and construction worker from Shelby, passed away in Medford, Oregon from natural causes. Memorial services will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St Luke’s Lutheran Church. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. George was born October 15, 1953 to Charles James and Annie (Ekholt) Wiegand, Jr. He grew up on the family farm 30 miles northeast of Shelby. He attended elementary school in Oilmont, graduated from Sunburst High School and attended Helena Vo-Tech. George was a volunteer at the Marias Heritage Center where his mother, Annie, has lived for the past 14 years. George had been staying in Medford, OR, near his son, at the time of his death.
George is survived by his mother, Annie Wiegand; children, Charles Wiegand, Medford, OR and Amber Wiegand, Ephrata, WA; and siblings, Dorothy (Norman) Seymour of Shelby, Sue Heavirland (Loren) of Choteau, Patricia Marks of Mesa, AZ, Karen (Murray) Taylor of Oilmont, and Polly Ettinger of Great Falls. He is predeceased by his father, Charles Wiegand, Jr; his brother, Charles Wiegand, III; and his sister, Sally Caplis.
