Georgia L. Garnett

Georgia L. Mooney Garnett, 89, of Conrad, Montana passed away March 15, 2017 with her beloved husband Ted of 68 years beside her.

Georgia was born May 8, 1927 to Earl and Mary Mooney in Conrad. She grew up on the family farm near Conrad with her brother and two sisters, and attended rural grade school at the Manson School near her home.  She graduated from Conrad High School in 1944 and after a short stint working for the Pondera County Welfare Office, she attended Montana State College. In 1948 she married Ted Garnett and in 1949 graduated from Montana State College with a Home Economics Degree.  After college they moved to Townsend, Montana where they lived and worked for 5 years. In 1954 they moved to Conrad to begin farming and ranching. Georgia was very involved as a farm wife and was a 4-H and Brownie Scout leader along with active participation in many local charity and volunteer organizations.  Georgia and Ted enjoyed 14 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona where she soaked up the sunshine and made many longtime friends. In 2007 they moved off the farm and into Blue Sky Villa in Conrad.

Georgia is survived by her husband Ted; son Brian (Linda) Garnett of Conrad; son Gordon (Cindy) Garnett of Inman, SC; sister Joann Swenson of Kalispell, MT; grandchildren; Jessica (Troy) McKeehan; Steve Garnett; David (Theresa) Garnett ; Ashley Starr; Scott, Becky and Brayden Garnett; Randy and Robert Ator; along with numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Georgia was preceded in death by her brother James Mooney, her sister Doris Neu, and daughter Margaret Ator.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following. The family asks that any memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Pondera County Health Foundation.
