Harriet Esther Grabofsky, 89, a retired Yarn Shop and trailer court owner from Shelby, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, the Marias Care Center. Visitation is Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 pm at the Whitted Funeral Chapel, where her funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 12. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Paulette Shores of Malta and Charlotte Gladeau of Fort Mohava, Arizona; sisters, Lilly Nelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Jean Vaughn of Great Falls; brother, Ray Jensen of Missouri: grandchildren, Laurie Neutgens of Billings, Danny Paul Shores of Malta, Mark Shores of Idaho, Santee Gladeau of Columbia Falls, Paul “PJ” Gladeau of Fort Mohava, Arizona, Jessica Oshio of Brady, Jeremiah Oshio of Shelby, Derek Oshio of Malta, Janice Yeager of Conrad, Charles Young of Wisconsin and Roy Young of Billings; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob; daughter, Cathryn Young; son, Brook Oshio; one brother; and five sisters.
Harriet was born May 31, 1922 at Hettinger, North Dakota to James and Grace (Abbey) Jensen. She married Paul Oshio June 28, 1941 at Glasgow. They lived in Malta where she waited tables and cooked. Together they had 4 children and later divorced.
In 1963 she married Jacob Grabosky and they farmed north of Malta until 1968 when they moved to Red Lodge, Hamilton and later to Shelby. She owned and operated a yarn shop and trailer court before retiring, Jacob passed away in 1979.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary; she enjoyed fishing, crocheting, knitting and gardening.
