Hazel E. (Hoyt) Johnson, 90, a long time Cut Bank area ranch wife, passed away December 22 at the Northern Rockies Medical Center. Visitation is Friday, December 27 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Whitted Funeral Chapel, followed by a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is 11:00 am, Saturday, December 28 at the church with burial to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Hazel was born September 23, 1923 to George and Eva (DuBray) Hoyt in Cardston, Alberta. She and William ‘Bill’ Johnson were married on May 20, 1944 in Roundup.
Hazel was a farmer and rancher in Del Bonita for 68 years. She was a 4-H leader for a record number of years, having started with her older children and ending after her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cowbelles and WIFE, both agriculture associations. She enjoyed Bible Study and weed spraying with her friend Gloria. She was very active in the community and very supportive of her kids and grandkids.
Mom loved to sew and could sew anything that could be sewed. One of her other passions was bowling. As she followed Bill, her children and grandchildren in rodeo she would write down every time and score.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Arnie and Linda Johnson and their children Chad (Leanne), Todd and his daughter MacKenzie; daughters, Bonnie Brown and her daughter Lyndie (Bret) Kraft and their children Kayla, Alex and Colby and Charlotte and Walter Barry and their daughters Macee and Mylee; and a sister, Georgia (Bill) Icenoggle.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; grandson, Shem; her mom and dad; brother, Ronald; sister, Joyce; and son-in- law, Fred.
