Herbert M. Peterman

Herbert Peterman, 86, passed October 23, 2020.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, at the Asper/Pondera Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm.  Private services will be held Thursday, October 29, at Pondera Valley Lutheran Church. A public graveside will follow at 2pm at Hillside Cemetery.

Herbert was born to Herbert and Millie (Backer) Peterman on January 16, 1934 in Posen Township, Woodlake, MN.  He was the ninth of thirteen children.  Herbert was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodlake, MN.  He attended Parochial School for four years and then public school.  Herbert was raised in the Woodlake area until moving to Montana in 1951.  He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Brophy in 1953 and making their home in Conrad.  He worked elevator construction for 44 years, retiring in 1996.  Herbert was a member of the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking, and the mountains.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie; daughter, Kathy (Dean) Gemar of Conrad; son, Jim (Barbara) Peterman of Fairfield; grandchildren, Lori (Bryan) Beniger, Amy (Casey) Copenhaver, Keith (Brandi) Gemar, Brian (Emily) Gemar all of Helena, and Dawson and Hanna Peterman of Fairfield; great grandchildren, Carly, Chloe, Carter, Presley, Brock, Blake, and Easton all of Helena; brother, Bronc (Cec) Peterman of Conrad.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; 6 brothers; and 5 sisters.
