Howie Welker

February 14, 1965 — May 30, 2014

Howard “Howie” Welker

On the afternoon of May 30, 2014 as Howie’s mom was holding his hand, he passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms at Peace Hospice in Shelby, MT, after a valiant battle with cancer.  Howie was 49 years old.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at New Life Community Church in Shelby.

Howard Jay Welker was born in Shelby, MT to Howard “Blue” and Mary Skeslien Welker on February 14, 1965.

Howie graduated from Valier High School in 1983.  He loved camping and fishing and totally enjoyed the visits with family and friends around the campfire.  He also kept up with any sports that his nephews, nieces or any family member participated in.  In later years, Howie spent much of his time attending bible study with Pastor Paul who was a dear friend of the family.  Pastor’s visits were always a highlight of the day.

Howie was always a kind and gentle person and was always so generous with his “I Love You”!  Life was not easy for him as he had sustained very serious injuries in a car accident not many years after high school.

Howie is survived by his mother, his brother, Wade, of Shelby and a sister Angie Stokes of Great Falls.  He is also survived by his grandmother Clara Skeslien of Shelby, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Howard “Blue” Welker, cousin Robby Welker, grandfather Carl Skeslien and grandparents Ralph and Sylvia Welker.

In lieu of flowers, contributions would be greatly appreciated to help defray final expenses.
