Ivan Walter Duve, 82, a retired construction worker and US Army Air Corp Veteran from Shelby, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013, at the Marias Care Center. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 14, at St. William Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Ivan was born August 17, 1930 at Lancaster, WI, to Leo & Margaret (Flesch) Duve, where grew up and was educated. He married Jean Ann McLeod on March 20, 1951 at Ft. Riley, KS, and served 4 years with the US Army Air Corp during the Korean Conflict.
The couple then moved to Shelby where Ivan worked on various construction projects in the area over the years, before retiring from the Alme Construction Company.
Ivan served as a proud member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Toole County Search & Rescue, the VFW, Elks and Moose Lodges, St. William Catholic Church, and served as Boy Scout Leader.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jean Ann of Shelby; daughter, Barb (Cliff) Fey of Shelby; son, Tim (Melinda) Duve of Shelby; two sisters and one brother; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In lieu of material remembrances, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Shelby Volunteer Fire Dept. P.O. Box 310, Shelby, MT 59474.
