Jalene M Silberman King, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother, passed away in her sleep on July 14, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on July 7, 1945 to Al and Betty Silberman, aka Nanny and Pop. She grew up on the family farm in Oilmont, MT helping Pop and her two siblings Herbie and Bettylou out in the field. She attended school in Oilmont until her senior year where she graduated from Shelby High School. Shortly after graduating High School she married the love of her life Evan King on December 21st 1963. They spent nearly 60 years together before the loss of Evan this past fall. Shortly after getting married Evan was stationed in Germany with the military. Jalene joined him later on and there they traveled around Germany and the neighboring European countries.
In her later years Jalene loved to recount her stories from their time together abroad. Once returned from Germany Jalene and Evan brought home their eldest daughter Jodi, and shortly after, their son Jamie. Jalene and Evan raised their family in Shelby, where Jalene worked for the city before retiring. During their retirement she and Evan enjoyed spending time following their grandchildren and partaking in their various activities. Jalene also loved cheering on the Gonzaga Bulldogs; watching football especially the Grizz with Evan, ie yelling at the TV, taking care of her two cats Max and Ricky and playing dominoes with her family.
She is survived by her siblings Bettylou and Herbie; her daughter Jodi (Brian Aklestad) and her son Jamie (Juli King) her grandchildren, Alyssa, Natasha, Drew (Charlie Simkin), Jake, Sam, and Jordyn, and great grandchildren, Logan, Luca, and Mia Simkin.
A memorial service will be held on July 20, 2024 at Asper’s Funeral Home at 10:00 am, burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetary and a reception to follow at Frontier Bar and Supper Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jalene’s name to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
