James Boy, Sr

December 17, 1927 — July 15, 2012

James Lewis Boy, a retired school bus driver for the Browning Public Schools, went to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, and into the loving arms of his wife, Margaret, two sons and two grandchildren on Sunday, July 15, 2012. James was born on the Blackfeet Reservation, December 17, 1927, the son of Oscar Boy and Cecile Short Robe Boy. His paternal grandfather was “The Boy” and paternal grandmother was “Almost a Snake” while his maternal grandparents were “Short Robe” and “Going After Water.” His adopted grandfather was “Bird Rattle.”

A funeral service was held at his homestead ranch Thursday, July 19. Burial followed in Willow Creek Cemetery.

James’ Blackfeet name as a child was “Medicine Plume” and as an adult was “Crow Feathers.” He was a fluent speaker of the Blackfeet language. As an elder of the Blackfeet Nation he was a teacher of their language and a resource for the cultural heritage of the tribe. James was a member of the Honorary Council of the Blackfeet Nation. From the 1960’s through the 1990’s he and Margaret traveled extensively throughout the country as evangelists. Both were very committed to their faith and they are now reunited in Heaven.

Surviving him are three daughters. The oldest is Ruth (Lance) Edwards, with Leona “Sweets” Calica and Anona Boy. He is also survived by a son, Al (Lisa) Boy. Six grandchildren, Velden (Rikie) Calica, Vaylon Calica, Allison (John Carr) Edwards, Cody Boy, Angel Boy and Dallon Boy and six great-grandchildren, Trajen Calica, Cade Calica, Velden James “VJ” Calica, Corie Jade Soper, Lillian “Lily” Carr and Baby Boy Carr due in September also survive him.

His wife, Margaret in 1996, two sons, Dallas Boy in 1971 and James Boy Jr. in 2006 and two grandsons, Randall James Rickena in 1991 and Tyler Dean Boy in 2002, preceded James in death.
