James Gaines

James Richard Gaines, 51, passed away of natural causes on August 19, 2016.  James was born to Jim and Delma Gaines on November 20, 1964.  James was in a loving relationship for 23 years with Renee Swenson.  He returned to Conrad to care for his father where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cutting firewood.  His favorite past times were spending time with his family, friends, and especially his pets and grandchildren.

Survivors include wife of 23 years, Renee Swenson; daughters, Chantal (Russell) Srb and Jessica Gaines both of Great Falls; son, Jesse Gaines of Great Falls; sister, Marlena Schwenke of Shelby; brothers, Clifford of Sand Coulee and a brother in Washington; Aunt MaryLu Wentworth of Great Falls, Uncle Stan of Brady; grandchildren, Shaun Cunnington, Tyler Srb, Caitlin Srb, Kylie Breann Guessen, Caleb Srb, Hayden Srb, Joseph Gaines, Dayton Gaines, Twins, Elliot and Saphira Gaines, Adalie Lynne Anthony, Taycen Gaines; cousins, Michelle Bruce, Cody and Bryan VanHeel, and numerous other cousins; and good friend and mentor father, Dale Sheldon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Delma Gaines; sister, Judy; brothers, Bob, Darrell, and Wendell; grandfather, Clyde Gaines; and grandmother, Vick Maynard.

James was a very special person and will be missed by all.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September 3, at 1:00pm at Pondera Funeral Home. A Reception will follow service at Ed’s Tavern.
