James Gerard

April 1, 1948 — March 26, 2016

James Gerard Jr., 67, peacefully passed on to our Lord on the morning of March 26, 2016 in Cut Bank, MT with his family at his side.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30 at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Cut Bank, who has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.  The funeral service celebrating Jim’s life will be 11:00 am on Thursday, March 31 at the Cut Bank Assembly of God Church, followed by interment and military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife and our mother, Catherine (Tough) Gerard; son Chris (Heather) Gerard of Bismarck, ND; daughter Jessica Gerard of Jamestown, ND; and daughter Robin (Philip) Iverson of Napavine, WA.  Jim is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Brenna, Brandon and Madison Stockwell; Camille Whiteman; and Nash Oech.  Jim is survived by his mother, Marjorie (Brown) Gerard of Cut Bank, MT as well as his 7 sisters (MaryAnn, Barbara, Elaine, Judy, Lisa, Gae and Anita) and 2 brothers (Lyle and Gary).  He was preceded in death by his father James Gerard Sr. and his step sister Karen.

Jim was born on April 1, 1948 in Cut Bank, MT.  He attended Cut Bank schools and graduated high school in 1966.  He attended Gonzaga University for 1 year before enlisting in the Army.  Jim completed a tour in Vietnam before achieving an honorable discharge in 1971.  He met the love of his life (Catherine Tough) in September 1972 and married her on December 7, 1973.  They enjoyed 42 years of marriage, loving every moment they had together.

Jim was a proud member of the Blackfeet Tribe.  Aside from being with his family, he enjoyed listening to music and watching sports.  Jim was known best for his caring, kind nature and good sense of humor.  He never met a person he didn't like.  Jim loved visiting with his many friends and a good cup of coffee.
